SF Victorian
9″ x 12″ Oil on canvas panel
I am in the process of setting up an actual studio in my house that is not in the basement. we are working on plans now. I just got a new easel to use. Not the real nice David Borg easel that I really wanted though. I’ll have to save a little for that one. But this one will be nice. I am really thankful for the time I have been able to paint. I am definitely painting more now than I ever was. Still involved in the sketching as well. Anything to keep the creative flow. I am also encouraging my studio employees to draw and paint as well. Keeps everyone loose and its fun.
This painting was done from a photograph provided on the blog Different Strokes From Different Folks, where artists are encouraged to paint or draw their own interpretations. Well, this is my interpretation of this image of a victorian home in San Francisco. I worked on a black ground for this one which I have tried on a couple other occasions. I like it and I like the results but I am still very much in the exploration stage of using oils and trying to find the right ground and technique that I feel fits me. Let me know what you think.

It is so beautiful the use of colors the way you work on the sky, I live it! No wonder after I read ” about me”………
Welcome to the group.

Thanks for your comments Sheila and Irit. I am thrilled to have found the DSFDF site. Its great to work on something and see how other artists handle the same subject.

Came to your site from DSFDF…very nice work Robin. I’m glad to see you participating on Karin’s blog…we have a lot of fun. I scrolled down at your other works and truly admire your style. Somewhat dismayed at the lack of comments, but they’ll come…particularly since Sheila has found it.
I’m putting your site on mine because I genuinely like your art…clean, crisp and colorful. Hope you’ll visit my site and check out Windows to the Words while you’re there and give me your opinion. Once again….great work.

James, Thank you for the comments. I have really just recently gotten serious about my art so I plan to start doing more to get traffic to my site. Like joining DSFDF. Plus that stuff is fun. I still do not have a lot of time to devote to painting so I need to carefully pinpoint the sites like this I participate in. I like the idea behind your Windows to the Words site. I have already started considering ideas for a work to post there. Great work and idea. Thanks again.

Hi Robin. I’ve never visited your blog before (I don’t know why) and I also have not found DSFDF site before either. I picked your painting out from the good bunch over their. It is perfect!

Wow, I guess I have been pretty busy lately and have taken time to see who has visited.
Angela, thanks for stopping by. I look forward to doing more with the DSFDF paintings. I see there is a new post up there now.
Jan, Thanks for stopping by over here. You should stop by the DSFDF site and join in the fun. How are you doing on the portraits? That is a stretch for me but it has been fun. Seems to be slowing down a bit though.
